It's "official" we have traveled around the world - Det er "oficialt" vi har rejste hele verden rund

Seeing how the circumference of the earth  at the equator is 24,902 miles, the American kids in our family and I have officially crossed that and are nearly half way around again.  Sure, technically only one trip for four people, but who is focusing on that anyway?

Each time we travel to MI we clock a total 4073.9 "flying blue" miles. Multiply that by the 9x's we have made the trip and wallah - a whopping total of 36, 665.00 miles logged to date.

Each trip requires two flights averaging out to about 9 1/2 hours of flying time.  For a total of 85.5 hours or a little over 3 1/2 days in the air.

Hver tur kræver to flyvninger i gennemsnit ud til omkring 9 1 / 2 timers flyvetid. For alt 85,5 timer eller lidt over 3 1 / 2 dage i luften.

We have tested out four airlines during the last 2 1/2 years and rated them as we saw fit below.

1. Northwest - what can we say?.First class for 8+ hours is hard to beat!
(hvad kan vi sige?. Førsteklasse sæder for 8 + timer er svært at slå!)
2. Airfrance
3. Lufthansa
4. Delta

We have tried 6 airports - listed in order of our favorites.

1. Detroit - DTW
2. Billund
3. Hamburg
4. Amsterdam
5. Paris - Charles De Gaulle
6. :*( - Frankfurt

We have used a ton of travel websites to find the best rates and have found that no one site is better than another...it just depends on the day!

Sites like: travelstart.dk, kayak.com, cheaptickets.com, travelocity.com.
Sites som: travelstart.dk, kayak.com, cheaptickets.com, travelocity.com.

Needless to say, we are always happy to be on the ground!

You have to be the only person I have ever known who has put the Detroit airport at the top of a list. For me, it ranks a notch worse than Frankfurt!

For ease of arrival, I highly recommend Karup! :)

When was the last time you were there? They have actually made some pretty outstanding updates! Ok, so it might have something to do with the fact that we "know" it best, and it doesn't hurt that there is a McDonald's that doesn't ask you to pay a small fortune for a Happy Meal! :)
Sometimes those little things mean a LOT when we travel!

Have you tried the Momondo airfare search engine too?
http://www.momondo.com

Momondo was highly praised by the American travel site Frommers.com
Frommer's found that Momondo was 20-40% cheaper than the sites ranked 2nd and 3rd.
